Career
I have more than 25 years' experience in medical law, and I specialise in the interests and rights of birth-injured children - particularly those affected with catastrophic injuries where compensation awards are very high to ensure provision for their future needs.
I agreed a £33m settlement for a 15-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and complex cognitive and behavioural needs, one of the highest awards of its kind and the largest ever for a teenager. I also negotiated settlement for a 7-year old boy with severe behavioural problems, autism and ADHD to the value of £30m.
My cases regularly receive media interest. I have been quoted in the national and local press and interviewed on national TV and radio. I appeared on BBC2's Victoria Derbyshire Show with a client who spoke about her cerebral palsy via eye-gaze technology.
I lecture on best practice in obstetric cases and present to the Trust for Children with Brain Injury (Surrey), Chailey Heritage School (East Sussex) and SCOPE (London).
In 2019, I raised £1,000 for the Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre at the Prudential Ride 100. Last year, I completed a 14-day cycle ride to John O'Groats raising funds for iProBono and Fieldfisher's Cycling to Freedom Initiative – supporting the liberation of at-risk female Afghan cyclists and their families.
