Practice Areas
John has extensive experience in dealing with both part 1 and part 2 Extradition requests. He has successfully challenged requests for extradition on numerous occasions. John is also able to deal with cases involving individuals on the Interpol Red List.
John also has experience in dealing with serious UK criminal proceedings both at the police station and post-charge into trial, sentencing and appeal.
Career
John started at the firm as a paralegal and is now a Partner and Deputy Head of Crime and Extradition.
He is an experienced Criminal Defence and Extradition Solicitor with extensive experience helping clients resist both EU and Non-EU extradition requests including recent success in opposing both Brazilian and Moldovan requests.
He has extensive experience in dealing with complex technical points to do with the validity of extradition warrants and arguments connected to the Human Rights Act.
John has successfully argued in a number of cases that a clients mental and physical health should act as a bar to their extradition.
He also has expertise in defending clients accused of a wide range of the most sensitive and complicated domestic matters including murder, complex fraud (including matters being investigated by the HMRC) serious sexual offences and drugs conspiracies.
He is also known for being a proactive and hardworking litigator with a client focused approach and eye for the minute detail of cases.
John has Higher Rights of Audience which means he can represent his clients through every stage of the legal process. He has been described as passionate, persuasive and a hard-hitting advocate.
