Jon acts exclusively for the defence, and regards client care (professional and lay) as a paramount matter. Called to Bar 1983. Member of Furnival Chambers since 1986. Instructed in a number of high profile cases since then in various regions of England and Wales. He has extensive experience in serious sexual allegations, and has completed the 'Vulnerable Witness Advocacy' training course, qualifying him to train other advocates. He has taken part in training courses for Lincoln’s Inn.
Jon has substantial experience of leading in serious crime such as murder, other serious violence, drugs, fraud and sexual offences. He has a reputation for sympathetic handling of difficult cases; for being well organised, conscientious and meticulous in his preparation of cases, and has been working at this level for many years, demonstrating a consistent high level of achievement, and continued popularity with instructing solicitors and lay clients, who appreciate his forthright advice when it is most needed.
Recent cases of note include: (2022/23) Murder: gang-related stabbing. Murder: of ex-partner’s parent. Murder of elderly occupant in course of burglary. Possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. Historic sexual allegations against stepfather.
