Career
Juan Pablo focuses his practice on international commercial and investment arbitration. He has particular experience in complex disputes in the infrastructure, energy, technology and telecommunications sectors.
He has participated in arbitrations under leading institutional rules including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), as well as ad hoc cases under rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
Juan Pablo has participated in numerous arbitration proceedings, including:
Defense team for a telecommunications company regarding an agreement to implement radio communications towers (ICC, seat Mexico)*
Defense of a state enterprise regarding construction of a gas transportation project (ICC, Mexico)*
Represented a satellite operations company against the government of Mexico for potential breaches to a bilateral investment agreement (ICSID A/F, Spain)*
Defense for a state enterprise in a dispute related natural gas transportation fees (LCIA, Mexico)*
Defense for a state enterprise in a dispute arising from the construction of a hydroelectric financed public project (LCIA, Mexico)*
Represented a private company against a South American government owned bank regarding acquisition of shares and payment of dividends (ICDR, Miami)*
Defense for an international telecommunications company regarding a virtual mobile operator agreement (ICDR, Mexico)*
