Practice Areas

Kabiito is the Managing Partner of Ligomarc Advocates with over 20 (twenty) years’ experience in Insolvency, Corporate and Debt Restructure practice, Banking and Finance, Finance Leasing, Commercial and Civil law practice and Litigation. Currently he is the Convener of the Insolvency Cluster of the Uganda Law Society and the Chairperson of the Board of the Uganda Performing Rights Society as well as the Ligomarc Foundation.

Qualified as Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Hons) from Makerere University Kampala and a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. I am an INSOL Fellow having completed the prestigious Global Insolvency Practice Course offered by INSOL International, a global federation of accountants and lawyers who specialize in turnaround and insolvency.

Kabiito is an Experienced and Uganda’s renown Insolvency Practitioner having dedicated the last 18 years of my career to insolvency advisory and litigation. He has actively taken on assignments appointed by creditors as Liquidator, Receiver, Caretaker while advising businesses in Administration and other insolvency proceedings both local and cross border. He has recently co-engineered the successful rejuvenation of the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) the only Music Collective Management Organization in Uganda. He has significant experience in Commercial and Banking Litigation, some of which have set precedents in commercial practice in Uganda. He has significant experience advising in infrastructure sectors, including the Power sector and the Rail sector.

He has participated in Consulting in Insolvency started with the drafting of Insolvency Act 2011 where he was part of the Consulting team for the Uganda Law Reform Commission. He has also participated in the development of other important pieces of commercial legislation in Uganda including the Companies law; the law establishing the Information Technology Authority of Uganda; and the Partnership Act. He was consulted by the Official Receiver in the Implementation of the Insolvency Act 2011 including the drafting of Regulations under the Act. He has contributed to World Bank & INSOL International updates on Insolvency regulation and policy in Uganda.

Kabiito is a renown speaker on Insolvency matters at conferences both locally and internationally including the INSOL International Africa Round Table. In Uganda, He is regularly called upon to train and facilitate training on insolvency to various stakeholders training judicial officers, Uganda law society, other professionals, bar course students, the business community to mention but a few.
