Career
Karina has advised Grupo Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala and the Holding Company of Cervecería Centroamericana, S.A. on the area of Intellectual Property. She is considered a National Expert of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), to develop the National Intellectual Property Strategy, agenda of the Ministry of Economy. Karina is also part of Origin -Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network (Geneva, Switzerland): Vice President for Central America and the Caribbean period 2011 - 2013. Karina has extensive experience in trademarks, patents, copyrights and related, unfair competition, due diligence processes, electronic commerce, as well as litigation related to these matters. Karina participated as Coordinator of legal audit of the Free Trade Agreement between the United States of America, Central America and the Dominican Republic (DR-CAFTA). She has been a Professor of undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Intellectual Property and Jurisprudence at Rafael Landívar University and at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala.
