With his solid contentious background, he's often consulted in cases that involve disputes that claim the unconstitutionality of laws and governmental actions, especially in the context of the new paradigms of constitutional and international human rights.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, he worked at a prestigious Mexican firm, heading its litigation and arbitration practice. He is an active member of the Mexican chapter of the Arbitration Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce and is often invited to speak at his alma mater for post-graduate studies related to civil, commercial, arbitration, and procedural law. Since August 2016, Luis Ernesto has been a professor of Derecho Procesal Civil (Civil Procedural Law) at Universidad Iberoamericana.
