Career

With decades of experience, Ricardo Pons Mestre focuses his practice on antitrust and competition matters, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and mining.

In the antitrust and competition arena, Ricardo focuses on merger control, cartel investigations, and abuse of dominance cases, as well as preventive consultation and training programs for clients. Ricardo is also actively involved in mergers and acquisitions, representing both Mexican and international clients.

Ricardo joined Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa (now Hogan Lovells) in 1993. Chambers, Who's Who Legal, and Legal 500 all rank Ricardo as a top lawyer.

Advising 21st Century Fox in a worldwide merger with Disney in Mexico. The matter was filed before COFECE and IFT.

Advised Amcor in Mexico regarding world-wide acquisition of Bemis in relation to local merger control proceedings.

Advising Bayer AG in remedy compliance with respect its acquisition of Monsanto.

Advising Cancun International Airport in an alleged abuse of dominance as to taxi entry into the airport.

Advising Repsol, S.A. in the acquisition of equity in Bardahl.

Advising Owens Illinois in acquisition of glass container business from Vitro.

Representing GE in the Mexico filing on the sale of its transportation unit to Wabtec.
