María Cortizas is a partner in the Tax department of Dentons' Madrid office. Prior to joining Dentons, she was a tax consultant at Linklaters for 12 years, and before that, she was a senior manager in the Transactions department of KPMG Abogados.

Maria has over 20 years of experience advising clients on the tax structuring of M&A transactions, capital markets transactions, structure financing and debt restructuring.

Maria advises on the tax planning and structuring aspects of major transactions, including corporate reorganizations, cross-border tax planning, OPI and acquisitions by private equity houses, infrastructure funds and real estate funds. She also represents clients in tax litigation and appeals before the Spanish courts, including the Supreme Court.

She holds a degree in Law and Business Administration (ICADE-E-3) and a PDD from IESE.
