Mark’s practice focuses on Employment and Education law. Mark has acted as sole counsel in the EAT and High Court, and as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. He is a member of the Attorney General’s and EHRC’s Panels of Counsel.
Career
Mark was called to the Bar in 2016.
In his employment practice, instructed as sole counsel, Mark has obtained sums of over £1m for Claimants and successfully defended claims of over £5m for Respondents. His recent reported appellate and High Court cases include:
• Jump Trading v Couture & Another [2023] EWHC 1305: High Court application for interim injunctive relief to enforce a restrictive covenant.
• Robinson v Al-Qasimi [2021] IRLR 774: Court of Appeal decision on the illegality defence.
• Driscoll v V&P Global [2021] IRLR 891: EAT decision establishing that constructive dismissal can constitute an act of harassment.
In his education practice, Mark has particular expertise in disability discrimination cases. He recently represented the Respondent in MM (as alternative person for C) v Royal Borough of Greenwich [2024] UKUT 179 (AAC) in which the Upper Tribunal provided important new guidance on the approach to Health and Social Care recommendations in EHC Plans.

Mark studied Classics at Jesus College, Oxford before completing the GDL (Distinction, fifth overall) and BPTC (Outstanding) at City University.
