Career
Mary Carmen Fuertes has extensive experience in labor and social security matters with a focus on labor consulting since joining Hogan Lovells (formerly Barrera, Siqueiros and Torres Landa) in September 2011.
Mary Carmen coordinates the labor practice and advise a large number of clients in their day-to-day labor matters, whether to start operations, carry out restructurings, implement or modify benefits and incentives, implement policies, codes of conduct and internal regulations, closing facilities, transferring employees, legal compliance in labor and social security issues and much more.
She has coordinated and participated in various labor audits, coordinated projects in Latin America, advised clients in relation to labor inspections, regularizations, labor investigations, hiring and terminations with executives, reorganizations related to subcontracting, specialized services, among others.
She is co-author of various publications on labor matters including the Mexico chapter of International Employment Law, the special edition of the Comparative Law Yearbook of International Business in relation to “Restrictive Clauses at the end of labor relations” in Mexico and the edition about “Eliminating Restrictions to Increase Gender Equity” from Women, Business and the Law, as well as other similar publications specialized in labor issues.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Mary Carmen worked as an associate and intern at a Latin American full service firm for around five years.
