Niall has worked at Gouldens (now Jones Day), Freshfields (now Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer), McKenna & Co (now CMS Cameron McKenna) Eversheds (now Eversheds Sutherland), and has been a partner at Martineau Johnson (now Shakespeare Martineau) and Ward Hadaway. In his previous positions Niall was involved in several notable cases including Hadley Industries Plc v. Metal Sections Limited, Metsec (UK) Limited [1998] EWHC Patents 284, the first patents trial to take place outside London. Since McDaniels Law opened in 2005 the firm has gone from strength to strength attracting well-known brands and designers from across the UK and abroad.
Niall has previously lectured on the Intellectual Property Diploma at Nottingham Law School and is currently a guest lecturer on the Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law at Bournemouth University. Niall is also a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.
Niall graduated from Kings College, University of London having read Biotechnology (B.Sc. (Hons)). Having worked for a short time he commenced the Common Professional Examination and Law Society finals course at Nottingham Law School before commencing his articles at Gouldens. During his articles Niall attended Queen Mary College where he secured a diploma in Intellectual Property Law.
