20 years’ experience practising exclusively in clinical negligence. Specialises in cases of serious injury, particularly those resulting in brain damage and cerebral palsy. Also vast experience in delays in diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including meningitis. In 2018 Nicola achieved one of the highest settlements in England and Wales for case of its type for a 9-year-old-girl with permanent brain damage due to misuse of forceps. Successful settlements in 2021 include a six figure sum for an 18 year old brain damaged at birth and securing an admission of liability for a boy with severe brain damage due to misdiagnosis of meningitis.
Career
Qualified in 1997 after training with Pictons. Specialised in personal injury and clinical negligence at Davies & Partners, Birmingham. Joined Leigh Day in 2000, practising exclusively in clinical negligence, becoming partner in 2006. Joined JMW Solicitors as a partner in April 2020, heading up London clinical negligence team.
