Practice Areas
Peter Dunlop is a partner and co-lead of the Insurance & Reinsurance team. His insurance law experience spans 25 years.
He is a former underwriter and his insurance practice includes non-contentious and corporate advice in insurance company, managing general agency, captive and SPI formations, insurtech, cyber, insurance licencing, ILS structures, policy and contract drafting and new product advice – with a focus on ESG - in which he acts for investors, fund and captive managers, insurtech start-ups, brokers and many of the world's leading re/insurers.
Peter also practices insurance regulatory law and has considerable experience of complex, multi-jurisdictional insurance regulatory investigations in the UK and Bermuda, representing re/insurers.
Peter also has a strong contentious insurance practice and is an experienced advocate with many years' experience of complex international re/insurance arbitrations in the UK and Bermuda for policyholders, cedants and reinsurers across the banking, energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals industries. Peter is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Peter is a member of the Bermuda Bar Association, CPCU (Bermuda Chapter), Law Society of England & Wales and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Peter sits on several advisory groups, including the BDA's Insurtech Working Group and the BMA's ILS Taskforce.
