Practice Areas
Philip Paschalides is based in Walkers' Cayman Islands office and is a partner in the firm's Finance & Corporate Group.
He specialises in debt capital market issuances, securitisations and structured products, including CLNs/repackagings, CLOs, catastrophe bonds, insurance-linked securities and bespoke structured transactions. He frequently represents lenders on secured and unsecured lending transactions, in particular within the hedge fund and private equity fund context.
Over the years, Philip has acted on a number of "pathfinder" transactions, developing structured finance technology which has since become market standard; some of this has been employed recently in the loyalty financing transactions executed by various large US airlines affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on which Walkers acted as Cayman Islands counsel. Over the 2001 financial crisis, he also had an active restructuring practice, dealing with large corporate restructurings as well as the restructuring of complex structured finance transactions such as CDOs and SIVs.
