Career
Rachel has extensive experience with a variety of claims. These include high impact motor claims public liability and employers’ liability. She deals with motor claims involving complex issues including indemnity and also uninsured drivers.
Rachel’s caseload involves handling a variety of injuries such as serious spinal injuries, brain injuries, and amputations. She has also dealt with a number of cases involving accidents abroad.
As part of her work, Rachel is often instructed pre-litigation to work alongside insurers and assist with their initial investigations. This includes providing advice on indemnity, liability, and quantum. She has built up a strong reputation with clients as an expert in high value cases. Rachel recently secured an excellent result for an insurer claim worth over £10m. She negotiated a contribution from a public authority resulting in a significant saving for the client.
Rachel is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) as well as the Law Society of Scotland (LSS). She was recently involved in drafting the FOIL response to the SLC Consultation Paper on Personal Injury Damages. Rachel is currently co-authoring the Lexis online text on the All Personal Injury Court in Edinburgh.
