Ryan Shores’ practice focuses on high-stakes antitrust and other commercial litigation. He also regularly represents companies in merger clearance and conduct investigations by antitrust federal and state antitrust enforcers.
Ryan has represented companies in numerous industries, including internet retail, financial technology, banking, energy, defense, and aerospace, in matters involving all types of antitrust claims under Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act and similar state laws, including price-fixing, market allocation, monopolization and attempted monopolization, tying, and exclusive dealing.
Ryan has served as trial counsel in government challenges to mergers under Section 7 of the Clayton Act, including the defense of three major merger challenges within the last 3 years.
Career
Ryan joined the firm as a partner in 2023. J.D., University of Virginia School of Law, Editor-in-Chief, Virginia Law Review; Order of the Coif; Raven Society (2003); B.A., Huntingdon College (1998).
Ryan served as Associate Deputy Attorney General & Senior Advisor for Technology Industries at the U.S. Department of Justice. In that role, he oversaw the Department’s antitrust review of major online platforms. Ryan was a law clerk to Chief Justice Rehnquist of the U.S. Supreme Court.
