Structured finance, payment systems, derivatives and banking regulatory matters. Stefan has been ranked as a market-leading lawyer over the last 20 years. He has been instrumental in shaping the German securitisation market in more than 150 transactions, including the majority of synthetic, true-sale RMBS and ECB securitisations.

Stefan has been lead counsel to the largest pan-European private sector payment systems since their inception (including EURO1, STEP2, RT1 and STEP2 CGS) for which he developed groundbreaking legal structures, including the EURO1 'single obligation structure' and the CBF-settlement structure for both RT1 and STEP2. Stefan also advises on various global multi-currency payment system projects based on innovative IT infrastructures.

Other recent matters include various large synthetic CLO transactions, a €30bn RMBS program and the largest ever (€35bn) structured covered bonds program.
