Thomas was the President of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) Taiwan Group, Taiwan Association of Information Technology and Intellectual Property (TAITIP) and Taiwan Patent Attorneys Association (TWPAA). He was an Adjunct Professor of IP laws and International Comparative Patent Law at National Chiao Tung University from 1996 to 2003.
He was also a member of AIPPI; AIPLA; APAA, FICPI; INTA; and IPO.

Thomas is also the co-author of a popular textbook “An Introduction to IP Law in Taiwan,” which was published in 1998, and reprinted four times with updated contents. He has been retained by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), as the member of the “Patent Examination Quality Advisory Committee”, and as the Consultant for the "Intellectual Property Professionals Training Project."
