He also handles real estate joint ventures and development, equity capital markets, debts and corporate restructurings, banking and finance, corporate advisory, and general commercial transactions.

Weng Hwee was recently recognised in the “Hall of Fame” for Real Estate, Construction, and Corporate and M&A practices and was also ranked as a "Leading Individual" in Capital Markets practice in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024 rankings. He is ranked as a “Distinguished Practitioner” in the asialaw 2024 and was recently ranked “Band 4” in Corporate/M&A and “Band 2” in Real Estate in the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2025 rankings. In 2024, Weng Hwee was noted as one of Malaysia’s Top 100 lawyers in The A-List by the Asia Business Law Journal. Work Highlights

Acted in Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s and Sun Life Assurance Company’s acquisition of a majority stake in CIMB Aviva Assurance Berhad and CIMB Aviva Takaful Berhad, and the joint venture between Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s and Sun Life Assurance Company’s.

Advised on transfer of NPLs from Malayan Banking Berhad to Maybank Islamic Berhad.

Advised Bank of America Berhad on sale of NPLs.

Acted for LSG Asia GmbH in their acquisition and subsequent disposal of their stake in Brahim’s LSG Sky Chefs Holdings Sdn. Bhd., the holding company of the airline catering unit LSG Sky Chefs-Brahim’s Sdn. Bhd.

Acted for Dongwha Group (Korea) is a series of acquisitions making Dongwha one of the largest MDF manufacturer in the world.

Acted for Sapura Petroleum Berhad in their acquisition of Clough’s marine construction business in Australia, Singapore, the UK and the US.

Acted for Sapura Resources Berhad in their acquisition and development of a prime piece of real estate in KLCC, and their joint venture with KLCC Holdings Sdn Bhd. Acted for FASTrack Autosport Pte. Ltd. in a joint venture with UEM Land Berhad to develop Motorsport City in Iskandar Malaysia.

Advised on loan and security documents for a facility granted to NGC Energy Sdn. Bhd. (a joint venture between the National Gas Company (S.A.O.G) and Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad). The facility was to finance the acquisition of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd.’s Liquefied Petroleum Gas business and assets.

Acted for Scomi Group Berhad in the issuance of convertible redeemable secured bonds to IJM Corporation Berhad.
