Career

Dr Wang obtained his Doctor of Laws, Master of Laws and Bachelor of Economics from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). He used to hold positions of the deputy dean of the UIBE Law School, the Director of the Committee of International and WTO legal affairs of All China Lawyers' Association, Director of the International Trade and Investment Committee, Anti-Dumping Committee, Council member, Vice–Director of Foreign Affairs Commission of Beijing Bar Association. He also once worked as a joint tutor for LLM at Tsinghua University Law School and an adjunct professor at China University of Political Science and Law.

Professional Memberships

Dr Wang currently serves an arbitrator of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) (only four in China), China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC/BIAC), Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC), Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), Hainan International Arbitration Court (HNAC), China Chongqing Arbitration Commission (CQAC), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Court of Arbitration. Dr Wang also serves as an adjunct professor of the Law School of UIBE, the council member of the WTO Law Committee of the China Law Society, the Chinese Society of International Law, the China Academy of Arbitration Law.

Dr Wang has represented clients in huge amount of complicated commercial disputes in the field of international trade, energy, foreign investment, maritime commerce, franchise and banking and finance. In the field of trade remedies, Dr Wang acted as the leading counsel for petitioners in China’s first anti-dumping case, first countervailing case and the first anti-dumping and countervailing investigation. He also acted as the leading counsel for the Chinese government in a series of world spotlighted WTO cases. In the field of litigation and arbitration, Dr Wang has represented many well-known corporations in large number of complex cases, including those before CIETAC, BAC/BIAC, HKIAC, ICC Arbitration Court, Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Asian International Arbitration Center (AIAC) and other arbitration institutions, as well as litigation cases in the Supreme People’s Court of China and provincial high people’s courts. He has also assisted clients as a Chinese law expert witness in various overseas arbitration and litigation cases, and heard lots of cases as an arbitrator before domestic and foreign arbitration institutions.

Publications

Dr Wang has published a variety of academic papers on international commercial law. In 2015, Dr Wang established the WeChat official account of “Huanzhong Commercial Arbitration”, serving as the editor-in-chief and writer. Since establishment, more than 600 articles in the field of arbitration, international trade and investment have been published in this account.
