How will firms exist across Global, Europe and Germany/France guides?

Accepted Answer

Firms will be featured in the guide most relevant to them. Those firms who are based solely in France or Germany will feature in either the France or Germany guide, and potentially the Global guide depending on which practice area(s) they are active in. Firms with rankings in multiple jurisdictions will be featured in all guides relevant to the firm, i.e. if a firm has rankings in France, Germany and Spain, the firm will feature in all three guides.

Which guide should I submit to?

Accepted Answer

Law firms and lawyers based in Germany and France should submit directly to the new respective Germany and France guides.

Firms and lawyers in other European countries should continue to submit to our Europe guide as previously.

Those wanting to be ranked in our Europe-wide tables should submit to the relevant practice areas in the Europe guide.

What is the new research schedule?

Research for the Germany and France guides will run from April until October. Europe research will now take place from May until November. The full schedule will be released in December.

What is the future for the Europe guide?

Accepted Answer

The Europe guide will continue to be an essential part of Chambers’ offering. We are committed to ensuring that we accurately reflect the European legal market and grow our coverage of the continent’s top law firms and lawyers.

I am a firm in another European country – how will this affect my firm?

Accepted Answer

Our coverage of Europe continues to be a priority for the Chambers research team. We will be enhancing the depth of our research across the continent, ensuring that we continue to cover the markets in the most accurate way.

Research dates for Chambers Europe will now run from May to November and the first submission deadline will be in April 2024. Law firms and lawyers wanting to be ranked in our Germany and France tables will now submit to the respective Germany and France guides, for which the first submission deadline will be in March 2024.

Those wishing to be considered for Europe-wide rankings should submit to the relevant practice areas in the Europe guide.

The full detailed schedule will be released in December 2023.

Will there be any France and German tables in the Europe guide?

Accepted Answer

There will be no France or Germany ranking tables in the Europe guide, however firms based in Germany or France and with the relevant offering can still be ranked in our Europe-wide tables.

Are there plans to create further regional guides in Europe?

Accepted Answer

We do not currently have any plans to create further regional guides in Europe. However, we are constantly assessing the best way to reflect the markets we research, so as opportunities arise to evolve our coverage, we will assess whether it is right to do so through the creation of new guides.

Question 8

Will the first round of France/Germany rankings take into account ranking history from the Europe guide?

Accepted Answer

The research for the France and Germany guides will be consistent with research in these countries in previous years. The process will remain the same and previous ranking decisions will be borne in mind for future decisions.

What will this mean for my multi country firm?

Accepted Answer

The addition of the France and Germany guides provides law firms and lawyers the opportunity to feature in several guides. The Global and Europe guides will continue to exist as previously, and the Germany and France guides will provide greater opportunities for firms to showcase their different practice areas.

Question 10

What are the benefits of being featured in each guide?

Accepted Answer

Chambers France and Chambers Germany will be dedicated to their respective jurisdictions and house a greater depth of research resulting in broader practice area coverage. These guides will provide local language editorial alongside our usual English text by which means we will reach a wider audience.

Chambers Europe remains a pre-eminent brand in the market and we will continue to provide cross border multi-national legal services in our Europe-wide tables.

In which language does the submission form need to be completed?

Accepted Answer

The submission forms need to be completed in English.
