Barrister practising across the spectrum of commercial dispute resolution (both litigation and international arbitration). Areas of expertise include banking and finance, professional negligence (especially accountants' negligence), civil fraud, insurance, energy and natural resources, product liability and all forms of contractual disputes (including construction and joint venture disputes). Recent work includes representing Dr Craig Wright in actions arising out of his claim to be the creator of Bitcoin; a commodities trader in a series of coal trading arbitrations; a technology investment fund in a multi-billion loan dispute; an investment platform provider in proceedings brought by retail investors; a pension fund in proceedings concerning ground rent investments; a leading insurer in business interruption litigation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic; Luxembourg liquidators in multi-jurisdictional investment disputes; and contractors in UNCITRAL and LCIA arbitrations arising out of the design and construction of military facilities. In addition, Craig represents a product manufacturer in the Public Inquiry and litigation arising out of the Grenfell Tower fire. He also has extensive experience of giving evidence on English law in foreign proceedings (including in Canada and Singapore).
Career
Studied law at Cambridge University (MA) and Oxford University (BCL, Vinerian Scholar). Called to the Bar in 1986. Fox Scholar (at McCarthy Tetrault in Canada) from 1986-87. Practised in London since 1988. Appointed Silk in 2006.
