Career
Fiona qualified in 1997 and became a partner in 2003. Fiona has significant experience in handling tribunal and EAT cases and advising on all aspects of employment law. Fiona is very “hands on” with her advice, delivering advice with a practical and commercial approach.
Fiona is praised for the ‘ability to assimilate information quickly, get to the crux of the problem and then offer viable solutions while always highlighting the pros and cons and the likely impact of any decision’. She is a regular speaker on employment related topics and a member of the Industrial Law Society and the Employment Law Association.
Work Highlights
In a case reported in the legal press (First Choice Homes (Oldham) Limited v Riley [2008] UKEAT 0051_08_3004) Fiona successfully defended an equal pay claim on the basis of a novel preliminary argument that the ET had no jurisdiction to hear the claim. The claim and appeal against her client both failed.
