Career
Gregg Barton, a partner, has over 35 years of experience focusing on state and local taxes principally in Washington and Oregon. His experience includes advising clients with respect to gross receipt, sales and use, and corporate net income taxes, seeking private rulings, handling administrative appeals, and litigating in state courts. He has been a leader in the field, serving as the Chair of the State and Local Taxes Committee and Counsel Director of the ABA Section of Taxation. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Amicus Brief Subcommittee of the State and Local Taxes Committee of the ABA Section of Taxation. He has been an educator in the field too, speaking regularly at conferences sponsored by the Council on State Taxation, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and the ABA Section of Taxation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, listed in Best Lawyers in America for both Litigation and Controversy – Tax and Tax Law, and named Best Lawyers' Seattle, "Litigation and Controversy - Tax Lawyer of the Year," for four years.
