Jennifer Understahl negotiates, strategizes, and collaborates with clients to close sophisticated commercial real estate transactions across the United States and internationally. She has deep experience in the following areas: (i) leading teams supporting owned and leased real estate portfolios, (ii) negotiating complex commercial leases (landlord and tenant), (iii) advising on real estate financing, including workouts of existing loans, (iv) closing improved commercial property sales and acquisitions, and (v) forming joint ventures.

Jennifer helps navigate the specific issues that are crucial across a wide range of asset types and situations, including for large, industrial and warehouse buildings (including customized fit-outs), retail, office buildings, headquarters, research facilities, and mixed-use projects. She works closely with emerging companies and institutional corporate clients to help them strategize complex deals and also provides day-to-day support for real estate related issues. She is the lead outside real estate counsel for several large corporate and technology clients, and guides them in expanding their footprint domestically and internationally. Jennifer also has significant depth in all aspects of commercial real estate loans, including loan workouts, and she represents some of the country’s largest commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) special servicers in handling their specially serviced loans.
