Laura McDonagh is a Partner in the Litigation Department, with over a decade of experience specialising in Judicial Review particularly in the areas of civil liberties and human rights. She also practices in the broader areas of clinical negligence, personal injury and commercial litigation.
Renowned for her client service and organisational skills, Laura is instructed by a wide variety of firms through Scotland to bring her expertise and knowledge to their Court of Session cases as an Edinburgh Agent. She is a trusted pair of hands and brings added value to every case.
Laura has been involved in some of the biggest cases in the Judicial Review field as an Edinburgh Agent including the case of Anela Anwar v Advocate General for Scotland [2021 S.L.T 1453], Billy Brown v Scottish Minsters [2018] A.C. 1 and McCue (as guardian for Andrew McCue) v Glasgow City Council [2023] UKSC 1.
She was also a member of the steering group navigating the first ever group proceedings litigation proceeding in the Court of Session in respect of the Volkswagen NOx Emissions Scandal and continues to work as part of that group on the new Emission Scandal claims which are currently being raised.
