Miranda Becher is a Partner in the Litigation Department, with more than 25 years' experience, specialising in clinical negligence and personal injury claims.
Renowned for her attention to detail, Miranda is rigorous in the investigation and prosecution of her clients’ claims. She commonly deals with cases involving delay in diagnosis of cancer, birth injury cases and fatal cases, as well as representing 170 clients in product liability/clinical negligence claims arising from the implantation of transvaginal mesh products.
She represented the pursuer in the first successful damages claim for rape in Scotland in the case of DC v DG & DR [2017] CSOH 5; [2017] CSIH 72.
A number of Miranda’s cases have been decided in the House of Lords (now the UK Supreme Court), and have clarified or restated the law relating to personal injury matters for legal practitioners across the UK, e.g. Simmons v British Steel [2004] UKHL 20; Spencer-Franks v Kellogg Brown & Root & Ors [2008] UKHL 46, Mitchell v Glasgow City Council [2009] UKHL 11.
Miranda is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Personal Injury Law and by APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) as a Senior Litigator.
