Michael Hanahan’s architecture training and passion for the construction industry inform his law practice. Mike represents owners, contractors, design professionals and consultants through the entire construction process, from contract preparation and negotiation, through procurement and construction, and in litigation and alternative dispute resolution, if claims arise. Drawing on his broad understanding of the construction industry, Mike works with his clients to develop proactive legal and business strategies. He counsels clients on traditional, design-build, engineering procurement and construction (EPC), and master installation agreements, as well as preparing and administering the related RFP process. Mike’s work involves new construction, renovation, and remediation projects in a variety of areas, including the commercial, data center, hospitality, entertainment, energy, residential, medical, industrial, and manufacturing sectors. Mike has prosecuted and defended a range of construction disputes involving construction defects, payment claims, construction delays and acceleration, design defects, Americans with Disabilities Act issues, mechanics liens, economic loss, and personal injuries. He also advises owners and design professionals on copyright and trade secret matters. In all projects, Mike works collaboratively with in-house and outside counsel, as well as business partners to ensure an organization’s legal concerns are covered as it pursues its business goals.
