Oliver is a leading Silk and acts for trade unions and commercial clients. He has particular specialist experience in industrial action (represented the successful trade unions in CA in RMT v Serco Ltd and GTR Southern v ASLEF); collective disputes (represented the successful drivers in SupCt in Uber BV v Aslam; the successful teachers in SupCt in Hartley v King Edward VI College; the successful employees in CA in Abrahall v Nottingham City Council; and the successful claimants in Kostal in SupCt); JR applications (represented the successful unions in ASLEF & ors v SS for Trade and Business; the successful civil servants in CA in R (PCS) v Minister for the Cabinet Office; and the successful firefighters in R (FBU) v South Yorkshire FRA); breach of contract claims (including restrictive covenants, PHI and negligent references) (represented the successful claimant in CA in Gibb v Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust); discrimination claims (represented the union in CA in Unite v Nailard); Working Time and TUPE claims.

Commercial Agency law:

Oliver acts for agents and principals and appeared in most of the important cases, including in HL in Lonsdale v Howard and Hallam; SupCt and CJEU in Software Incubator Ltd v Computer Associates Ltd; and CA in Nagel v Pluczenik.

Mediation:

Oliver is a CEDR accredited mediator and has mediated several commercial, employment, industrial and other disputes
