Career

Sofía is a Partner in the Construction Advisory and Disputes (CAD) department of Pinsent Masons Madrid. Sofía was previously based in Pinsent Masons Dubai (2004-2008) and London offices (2008-2018). Sofia joined the Madrid office as founding partner in 2017, after 14 years advising our clients in the execution phase on project risk management and minimising the risk of disputes (Procurement to Completion Services), as well as working in renowned international arbitration centres where he was involved in complex high-profile construction and energy litigation.

She has now over 18 years’ experience and she is highly specialised in Energy and Infrastructure projects, with experience advising on all forms of dispute resolution that arise in those sectors: preparation of claims at contractual stage, pre-litigation advice, litigation and arbitration, mediation, dispute boards, expert determination, neutral evaluation, etc. Sofía´s experience includes arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, DIAC, ADCCAC, and CIAM Rules and with seats in Madrid, Paris, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrein. The disputes that Sofia has handled relate to projects located in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Sofia is a member of the Board of the Spanish Society of Construction Law and a member of the FIDE Mediation Club. She teaches construction law and disputes at the Master’s Degree of both, the Complutense University and the Madrid Bar. She has advised the Spanish Contractors Association in relation to new forms of contracts for public contracting.

Sofía is a lawyer qualified in both Spain and England & Wales.
