Career
Thomas S. Heather graduated from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, has graduated studies in business and finance from the UNAM, and a Master of Laws from The University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Heather joined our Firm in 2021. Prior to joining Creel, he consolidated a multidisciplinary career of more than 40 years during which, among other distinctions became a founding member of the International Insolvency Institute, co-founder and chairman of the Mexican Institute of Mediation, and headed the Financial Law Committee of the Mexican Bar Association. He is an international fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, and a member of the Mexican Academy of Arbitration and of the Best Practices Committee of the Business Coordinating Council (Consejo Coordinador Empresarial).
He has published more than 100 articles and has co-authored several textbooks.
Currently, he focusses his professional practice in the areas listed above, and actively lectures. He serves on the Board of Directors of several leading public corporations. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Harvard University's International Financial Institutions Program and has been a delegate to UNCITRAL in international conferences related to multinational insolvency issues.
