Career
Tong-chan Shin is a partner at Yulchon, where his practice area focuses on cross-border overseas investment, energy & environment, international litigation and arbitration, and international trade, focusing on economic sanctions. He has been helping out South Korean and international clients for their dealings with Middle East including the investments, trade(international sanctions) and disputes. Also, he is very much active to advise North Korea, Russia and Burma sanctions issues for South Korean companies. Currently he is the head of the Middle East Desk of the firm. He had been dispatched to the Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices of Herbert Smith Freehills from 2012 to 2014. Also, he had been working at the Dubai office of Trowers & Hamlins from 2014 to the end of March of 2015. He had also worked as an international associate with Binghan McCutchen, LLP (now merged to Morgan Lewis), San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices from 2004 to 2005. Before then, he completed the LL.M program of Northwestern University School of Law. And he is admitted to the New York Bar and Korean Bar.
