Brant Philips is chair of the firm’s 100-attorney Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Brant’s practice focuses on complex business litigation and healthcare matters, and he serves as lead counsel to public and private companies and their directors in high-stakes arbitrations, securities and shareholder class actions, derivative actions and business fraud cases throughout the country. Brant also is routinely engaged to appeal adverse administrative and trial rulings.

Drawing on his background in public policy, Brant also leads clients through regulatory and enforcement proceedings before government boards and commissions, with a special focus on both healthcare facilities and services and the electric utility industry. Brant serves as primary counsel to the board of directors of Middle Tennessee Electric, which is the second largest electric cooperative in the United States and serves more than 750,000 Tennesseans across nearly 2,200 square miles of territory.

- Certificate of need and CON hearings

- Business disputes

- Regulatory and administrative proceedings

Joined Bass Berry & Sims in 1998; Brant served on the firm’s Executive Committee in 2013-2017 and as co-chair of its Shareholder & Securities Litigation Team for several years.
