Practice Areas
Catherine Silverton is a senior junior much sought after by both the Prosecution and the Defence. She undertakes a broad spectrum of the most serious criminal cases, including serious sexual allegations, fraud and homicide, specialising in those cases involving complex medical and scientific evidence.
With in excess of 20 years advocacy experience, Catherine is adept at putting juries at their ease in even the most difficult and distressing of cases.
Whilst increasingly accepting instructions on a private basis, Catherine is committed to her publicly funded practice and is driven by a desire to do interesting and worthwhile work.
She has significant experience of dealing cases involving children and vulnerable witnesses and Defendants. She is also regularly instructed in cases involving high profile individuals and sensitive allegations. She is known for her strategic planning and tactical judgment, maximising opportunities for the favourable resolution of her cases.
Catherine has been in the same chambers since pupillage in 2001. She is an advocacy trainer for the North Eastern Circuit and a pupil supervisor.
She was appointed Recorder in 2018.
