Elizabeth is a highly respected and sought after property lawyer, with a particular specialism in social housing.
Elizabeth is sought after for her expertise in tenancy fraud and anti-social behaviour, disrepair claims, tenancies and allocation, homelessness, security of tenure, possession, and has a foundational knowledge of human rights and equality which pervade this area of law.
Elizabeth is known for her encyclopaedic knowledge of this area of law together with a high level of advocacy skill. Clients speak highly of her ability to get to the heart of a problem quickly and to communicate effectively with the people she works with.
As the 2024 Co-Chair of the Social Housing Law Association, Elizabeth is advancing the interests of her clients, bringing their shared challenges before the courts and advancing them through other political routes. In 2023, she presented the difficulties of pre-action conduct in disrepair claims to the Court of Appeal in Churchill v Merthyr Tydfil CBC [2023] EWCA Civ 1416, and has responded on behalf of members to the government consultation on abolishing s.21 Notices and no-fault evictions. She is currently assisting in the response to the government consultation on committal proceedings.
