Mr. Jae Young Chang is currently a partner at Shin & Kim and a member of the firm’s M&A group.
Since 2003, Mr. Chang has represented and advised domestic and foreign companies and private equity funds on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, venture capital, and the establishment of domestic subsidiaries in various industries (including chemical, energy, environmental waste/recycling, bio/pharmaceutical/medical devices, semiconductor/display, heavy industry, logistics/shipping, food/consumer goods, finance, etc.), as well as corporate governance reorganizations and structured transactions. In particular, Mr. Chang has maintained a reputation for successfully handling spin-off transactions of business units of many large Korean companies.
From 2008 to 2009, Mr. Chang accumulated in-depth knowledge in the field of corporate governance, M&A and antitrust law through his LL.M. course in Corporate Law at New York University School of Law. After completing his LL.M., he worked as a foreign lawyer in the New York and Tokyo offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, a leading US law firm.
In recognition of his work, Mr. Chang has been selected as a Best Lawyer in M&A by Hankyung Business every year from 2019 to the present, and was titled the 2020 Dealmaker of the Year by Asian Legal Business (ALB), one of the most prestigious awards in the M&A field. He has also been recognized as a notable lawyer and first-tier lawyer in the field of M&A by various other international law firms and lawyer rating organizations.
