Bob Knuts has represented clients in litigation matters in New York for more than 25 years, focusing on matters involving investigations by the Department of Justice, the SEC, FINRA and state regulatory authorities. He also maintains an active civil litigation practice, represented both plaintiffs and defendants in litigations and arbitrations involving the financial markets and commercial disputes. Finally, Bob represents anonymous whistleblowers who have provided extremely valuable information to both the SEC and CFTC that has led to substantial enforcement actions brought by these agencies.
Career
From 1994 to 2003, Bob served in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement in New York, where he directed complex investigations, served as lead trial counsel for the SEC in contested litigations, including two insider trading jury trials, and assisted the Department of Justice in parallel criminal/civil investigations. In 2001, Bob received the Division of Enforcement’s highest honor, the Stanley Sporkin Award, for “exceptionally tenacious and insightful contributions” to the Enforcement program. Bob graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served on the Georgetown Law Journal.
