Sara is the leader of Seyfarth's International Dispute Resolution group and former national co-chair of the Construction Practice Group. Her practice is devoted to counseling clients on international arbitration and other cross-border dispute resolution proceedings, as well as complex domestic and international procurement issues, contract administration, claims, insurance, cross-border transactions, risk management, and project finance. For more than 30 years, Sara has been serving clients around the world involved in large-scale construction, renewable energy, hospitality, mixed-use retail, infrastructure and military projects. These include industrial plants, biofuel refineries, hotel development and renovations, condominium hotels, resorts, multifamily housing, high-rise office buildings, educational facilities, airports, light and heavy rail mass transit systems, bridges, military barracks, power plants, and wastewater treatment plants. She has arbitrated matters in proceedings administered by the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR, the international division of the American Arbitration Association), the International Chamber of Commerce, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and others tribunals.
In addition to her disputes practice, Sara serves as construction counsel for national and community real estate developers, facility owners, EPC contractors, government contracting firms, general contractors, and design firms. Sara also structures and negotiates complex integrated project agreements and prepares joint venture agreements, engineering contracts and consultancy agreements in connection with procurements administered by the US Army Corps of Engineers, USAID, and GSA. Projects abroad encompass the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Through her appointment to the Documents Committee of the Construction Owners Association of America, Inc., Sara served on the Contract Content Advisory Board for the new suite of model construction contracts known as ConsensusDOCS. Sara also was a contributor to the ConsensusDOCS’ accompanying Guidebook, which provides commentary and recommendations on use of the documents. She has authored numerous construction law articles and lectured on a myriad of construction and international law topics in the US and abroad.
