Mr. Youngwon Yoon is a partner at Shin & Kim’s International Dispute Resolution Practice Group, specializing in International Arbitration, Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), WTO and FTA Disputes, Economic Sanctions · Export Controls, Trade Remedies, Asset Management & Investment Funds. Mr. Youngwon Yoon is a partner at Shin & Kim’s International Dispute Resolution Practice Group, and possesses a high level of expertise in various areas of international dispute resolution including international trade disputes, international investment disputes, and cross-border litigation. Mr. Yoon plays a pivotal role in the Practice Group as he stands in the forefront of international commercial arbitration cases where he represents Korean governmental agencies, large domestic construction companies, leading manufacturing companies, and other clients by developing logical arguments in fine detail and smoothly conducts arbitral cases whether it be in written or oral pleadings. Mr. Yoon has represented Korean and multinational banks, investment banks, and other financial institutions and companies to provide advice on various cross-border transactional matters related to areas that include private equity investment, project finance, real estate and aircraft finance, social overhead capital investment, energy and natural resources. Mr. Yoon is rising to prominence by applying the extensive knowledge and vast experience that he gained based on his prior experience that Mr. Yoon now applies in technically complex disputes such as those involving overseas construction projects by large domestic construction companies, manufacturing defects of advanced equipment that are used in munitions or new and renewable energy businesses. In addition, based on his deep understanding of financial affairs and excellent analytical skills, Mr. Yoon led Shin & Kim’s International Dispute Resolution Practice Group to represent cases in KRW billion disputes related to the insolvency of private equity as well as several international litigations derived from such disputes. Deeply involved with investor-state dispute cases, Mr. Yoon took part in the first two cases alongside global top tier law firms to represent investors against the Korean government, and currently represents a Korean public company specializing in power generation against the Indian government related to a dispute about investments into a power plant in India.
