Colin Y F Yang (Yang Yunfu) is the chairman of board of directors, managing and senior partner of Yang & Lin Co. Law Firm. He has handled more than 2000 cases of maritime, admiralty, foreign-related affairs, insurance and other disputes in over 28 years of his engagement in the practice of law since 1994, most of the cases achieved favorable results and received acknowledging and applauding from the clients. He has won many cases in the Supreme Court, different Maritime Courts and relevant High Courts. With his great professional skill and rich experience in practice, he is a top experienced lawyer in the fields of maritime and insurance in China.

Career

Aug.1988 – Dec.1990, worked aboard the ship, whilst acted as the second officer for about one and a half years;

Jan.1991 – 1997, served in Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) engaging in marine accidents investigation and disputes settling;

1994 – 1997, worked as a part-time lawyer in Guangdong Maritime Law Office;

1997 – Feb. 2001, worked as a full-time lawyer in Guangdong Maritime Law Office; established Huang & Yang Maritime Law Office and was the managing partner of Huang & Yang Maritime Law Office;

Mar. 2001, founded Huang & Yang Co. Law Firm;

Mar. 2001 – Mar. 2006, served as the managing partner and full-time lawyer of Huang & Yang Co. Law Firm;

Apr. 2006, founded Yang & Lin Co. Law Firm;

Apr. 2006 – 2021, serving as the director, managing partner and full-time lawyer of Yang & Lin Co. Law Firm.

May 2021– now, serving as the chairman of board of directors, managing and senior partner of Yang & Lin Co. Law Firm.

Colin Y F Yang is a member of the research group for the modification of Maritime Code of the P. R. China. This group has 96 members across the country, among which there are 6 lawyers.

Colin Y F Yang now serves as the consultant expert of civil administrative affairs for the supreme people's procuratorate. He has been employed as an expert of maritime and admiralty affairs by the Supreme People’s Court for many times.

Mr. Yang has published more than 10 academic articles in well-known magazines such as Annual of China Maritime Law, Newsletter of Maritime Law Association, Comment on the Law of the Sea, Guangdong Navigation etc. and has given lectures at the international seminars of Maritime Law or acted as a host of such seminars many times.
