Career

Anu is a leader specialising in all areas of crime and financial crime. He has defended in substantial cases involving money laundering and fraud of all types.

A versatile and accomplished lawyer, Anu acts in all UK courts and advises clients across various jurisdictions, including the Eastern Caribbean, Middle East, and India. He serves as a trusted advisor to Directors of Public Prosecutions and Attorneys General, in multiple jurisdictions.

Anu also handles general criminal cases, having acted for defendants indicted on terrorist charges, murder and people smuggling. He has been instructed on a number of high-profile cases including the Tilbury Docks people smuggling, the largest human trafficking case in the UK. In 2023 he also appeared in the organ transplant exploitation case, where a person was trafficked into the UK for the purpose of an organ removal for a transplant, the first of its kind in the UK. These cases attracted extensive media coverage.

Anu has also advised the UNODC on controlled delivery, including cross-jurisdictional issues for wildlife policy in East Africa.

He also deals with general sports regulatory issues, including match fixing at the ICC and racism matters at the ECB and the RFU. He has represented both clients and clubs in disciplinary cases.

Anu is a qualified Arbitrator and Mediator and also shares his knowledge by training and mentoring junior barristers and lawyers.
