Szilvia is a prominent member of the Criminal Bar fraternity, with an equally strong defence and prosecution practice. She frequently works on high-profile cases involving murder, organised crime, drug trafficking, firearms, and sexual offences.

She has built a reputation for managing complex cases with intellectual sharpness and a touch of charm and humour, which instils confidence in her clients and colleagues alike. She is particularly known for her ability to find innovative evidential approaches to settled legal issues and is highly regarded by senior barristers in multi-defendant, large-scale cases. A former Canadian police officer, Szilvia’s expertise in covert and reactive police operations allows her to work on cross-jurisdictional cases with agencies like the UNODC, NCA, FBI, RCMP, Eurojust, and AFRIPOL.

Szilvia has extensive experience in deploying and challenging expert forensic evidence and is a specialist prosecutor in Human Trafficking and Slavery cases. She has appeared in cases involving large-scale trafficking operations, domestic slavery, and exploitation crimes, including money laundering and corruption offences connected to organised trafficking networks.

In addition, Szilvia has been appointed by the UNODC and the national prosecution authority of Kenya to advise on legal frameworks for controlled deliveries and informant use in East Africa as part of a team working on policies to trace and prosecute illicit activities across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
