Paul co-leads one of the largest specialist construction and major projects team within a law firm in New Zealand.
Paul advises on the procurement, drafting, negotiation, project management and dispute resolution of a number of major New Zealand projects.
He advises on standard and specialist construction and consultancy contracts. He has significant experience in advising on the use and drafting of industry standard construct only and design contracts (such as NZS 3910 and FIDIC), Alliance and Collaborative Contract, and other complex contract models such as ECI Contracts, EPC Contracts and PPPs.
Paul is an expert in the procurement and tendering process, with experience advising government, local authorities and major principals on their procurement. Paul has also acted as lead counsel in tender disputes in the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Paul’s advice on the procurement, drafting and negotiation of large infrastructure projects includes large road and rail projects, social infrastructure projects (such as schools, prisons and housing developments), and water and energy projects. He also helps resolve issues and disputes that arise during construction.
