Barbara Fiacco represents clients in complex intellectual property and patent litigation, contract disputes, and other commercial litigation. Her practice focuses on the life sciences, representing companies whose products include recombinant protein and monoclonal antibody therapeutics, small molecule compounds, drug delivery systems, molecular diagnostics, and medical devices. A recognized leader in the intellectual property bar, Barbara has served as President of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). She has led AIPLA’s judicial and legislative advocacy efforts and, in June 2019, testified on patent subject-matter eligibility reform before the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Intellectual Property. In addition, Best Lawyers named Barbara as Boston’s Biotechnology Lawyer of the Year in 2018 and Boston’s Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice Lawyer of the Year for 2020. Both AIPLA and the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) have turned to Barbara for representation as amicus in high-profile IP cases before the Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit.
