Practice Areas

Colin Zick’s practice focuses on health care and related compliance matters, often at the intersection of health care issues with regulatory or administrative proceedings, investigations, or in litigation. As co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Practice, Mr. Zick’s work emphasizes compliance and defense issues involving both state and federal regulatory entities, including investigations or allegations regarding fraud and abuse, kickbacks, Stark law, overpayments, false claims, billing and coding issues, and the Sunshine Act. His practice also includes advising on health care transactional matters. These projects include advice on mergers and acquisitions, the establishment of joint ventures, the creation of new entities, drafting and negotiation of service and employment contracts, creation of patient assistance programs, and negotiating clinical trial agreements. In addition, Mr. Zick advises clients on privacy and data security issues in health care and health information technology, including HIPAA and related state and federal health information laws and regulations, CCPA, GDPR, and related contracts (such as business associate agreements, and data use and data controller/processor agreements).
