Practice Areas

Peter Rosenblum is actively involved in Foley Hoag’s corporate and corporate finance practices, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, fund formation and investment, and other public and private offerings of securities. He serves as Chair of the firm’s Private Equity Transactions Practice Group.

Peter has broad experience structuring and executing mergers and acquisitions and other complex strategic transactions. His work has included numerous acquisitions and sales of public and private companies, tender offers, going private transactions, carve outs and divestitures, buyouts, co-investments, recapitalizations, joint ventures and strategic alliances. He has particular expertise in developing transaction-specific offshore and cross-border structures and limited liability companies and other pass-through vehicles.

Peter regularly represents investors and issuers, both in the United States and offshore, concerning investments in private funds, co-investments, growth investments and other late and early stage private equity investments. He counsels investment advisors and managers of private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds and other private investment funds in connection with formation and operation of their funds and management companies, as well as their transactional matters. Peter is principal outside counsel to public and private companies in technology, energy, life sciences, private equity, investment management, consulting and other industries.

Peter has held numerous leadership roles in Foley Hoag’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and firm management during his tenure with the firm. Peter was a Co-Managing Partner of Foley Hoag from 2000 to 2005 and served on its Executive Committee and as Co-Chair of its Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and Chair of its Business Department for many years.

Peter served as a member of Law360’s 2018 and 2021 Private Equity Editorial Advisory Boards, and as a member of its Mergers & Acquisitions Editorial Advisory Boards from 2017 through 2019.

Education and clerkship: Harvard Law School (J.D., cum laude); Yale University (M.A. in history); and Amherst College (B.A., summa cum laude). Prior to entering the private practice of law, he served as Law Clerk to Chief Justice G. Joseph Tauro of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
